Because of you…
185 students between the ages of 4-18 had access to after-school performing arts programs last year.
47 weeks of safe, prosocial programming were provided during peak unsupervised time in an environment that fosters diversity, community, and creativity.
8 professional teaching artists had opportunities to work locally, preserving the vibrancy of our region’s future.
12 playlab performances across three locations provided cultural opportunities to more than +5k community members, enhancing the quality of life in our region through creative outlets.
4 community-building workshops allowed volunteers the chance to help build scenery, props and costumes, bringing student ideas to the stage.
Because of you, students from Ferndale, Royal Oak, Oak Park, Huntington Woods, Lathrup Village, Detroit, Bloomfield Township, Berkeley, Pleasant Ridge, Madison Heights, Hazel Park, Warren, St. Clair Shores, Eastpointe, Harrison Township, Roseville, and more, have the opportunity to be part of an ensemble. To be part of a community. To be part of something bigger than themselves.
Our after-school Playlabs have grown exponentially over the past year and a half. This Fall we launched to 85 students across eight programs in three locations. Next semester we’re moving into Ferndale Upper, Lower and Middle schools, eliminating the barrier of transportation, while remaining accessible to students from neighboring districts.
But we're quickly outgrowing our capacity. Michigan Stage has been a passion project of mine for the past two years, a labor of love so to speak. While our Teaching Artists receive professional pay, I’ve been volunteering my time. In addition, our administrative costs are rising as we try to keep up with the demand of our community. Consider supporting our programs today, to ensure we can continue to offer these opportunities tomorrow.
